Typical 7-Day Itinerary (Adaptable)
Day 1: Meet at Salmon Grove Campground in Copper Center for gear check and safety briefing. Depart from Copper Center and set up camp south of Chitina at Haley Creek.
Days 2–4: Progressive river travel through braided channels and scenic rapids. Daily fishing opportunities, short hikes to viewpoints and glacial outwash plains, and nightly beach camps with campfire cooking.
Day 5: Reach a major landmark such as Childs Glacier or the Million Dollar Bridge. Camp two nights for exploration and time to enjoy both historic and natural highlights.
Day 6: Continue exploring while witnessing Childs Glacier calving into the Copper River.
Day 7: Final river section to take-out at Flag Point. Meet shuttle, pack out, and return to Valdez or Anchorage for departure.

Logistics & Planning
Best Season: Late June through August offers the most stable weather, peak river flows, and active salmon runs. Early season brings higher flows, while fall trips are colder and more variable.
Access Points: Common base towns include Copper Center, Chitina, and Glennallen. Our primary put-in is at our riverside campground near the mouth of the Klutina River in Copper Center.
