Fully Outfitted and Guided Adventures: Our expert guides will provide everything you need, from reading water to delicious meals and a comfortable camp for a seven-day expedition, ensuring a seamless experience in the wilderness of Alaska. We will depart from Copper Center at our river side campground on the banks of the Klutina River, and drift to Flag Point just below the “Million Dollar Bridge” 45 miles outside of Cordova.

Wildlife Encounters: Keep your binoculars handy and your camera ready for majestic moose grazing along the riverbanks and the countless bears in their natural habitat.  There are also Bald Eagles, River Otters, Mountain Goats, Salmon, Trout, Migratory Bird viewing, and even harbor seals that swim up the river from the Gulf of Alaska chasing the salmon runs.

Hiking/Photography/Camp Time: Not only  will the river impress you with its raw power and abundant wildlife you will have plenty of opportunities for all types of activities.  We usually have a few camp games, go on small hikes to exercise and see waterfalls or look for old relics, throw some flies in the tributaries to catch trout or just kinda take in the peacefulness and abundance of space and quite time. And of course, sitting by the fire while eating and drinking while sharing stories and the fantastic discoveries!

Indigenous History: As you float through the breathtaking Copper River Basin, you are not just navigating a jaw dropping landscape; you are also traversing a region rich in indigenous history and cultural significance. The Copper River is home to the Ahtna people, whose ancestors have lived in harmony on this land for thousands of years. The Ahtna culture is deeply woven with the river and its resources. This river journey will promote a deeper respect and admiration of indigenous heritage.

Explore Historic Mining Landmarks: Discover the fascinating history of The Copper River and Northwestern Railway as we float through this stunning slice of history learning about the world-famous Kennecott Copper Mine and the legacy it left behind. The iconic “Million Dollar Bridge” is a highlight of the bygone railroad and is a magnificent testament to the marvelous engineering to surmount the impossible.

FULLY OUTFITTED AND PLANNED: Let our staff provide you with the very best hospitality, equipment and camp amenities! Our guests are provided professional quality tents, sleeping bags and pads/cots as well as hot showers and a charging station for small personal electronics. Safety gear, dry bags and camp chairs are also provided.  A trip checklist will ensure you are prepared for all weather and personal items needed for an enjoyable time on the river.  You will be savoring mouthwatering meals prepared with care next to a warm fire and a camp with all the amenities. Using dutch ovens, cast iron and a back country allow us no restrictions on the types of meals we can prep and cook. We make great efforts to provide well balanced meals and plenty of snacks and hot/cold drinks to keep everyone fueled up for the day!
